Vivianite

VivianiteA perfect single crystal example of this supreme material from Tomokoni. This piece is a textbook prism with incredibly well formed faces, top luster and a gorgeous emerald green interior when backlit. The top of the crystal actually shows a very slight "bend" which is not uncommon for Vivianite but not often seen from this locality. A great example of this fine quality material. and all of them have different terminations with one showing a basal pinacoid

The specimen is pure Fluorite

but I acquired this one directly from Federico Pezzotta

and the midges make for a great contrast against the "rice grain"-esque beetles frozen inside

especially the pieces from near Nagar

Minor edge wear

There is a contact along the termination

gemmy purplish colored crystal of “Onegite” (Amethyst included with Goethite) on the underside of the piece

which is rare for this material

and later became part of my collection
