It it is used to protect the wiring for the bumper mounted rear numberplate lights where it goes from the rear wiring loom through the boot/trunk floor

Installation tip -  When you fit the pump you have to tighten it in place (but not completely tighten) and then put your finger up inside the front cover (or you can put a screwdriver down the distributor mounting hole) and rock the oil pump gear back and forwards

These must now be sold as a set as they may be slightly different dimensionally to your existing single mounts
