The Unit was initially stationed at North Bay in 1953, moved to Cold Lake and later, Bagotville. The crest was originally manufactured by Gustav Werle, founder of Crest Craft Ltd. of Saskatoon, SK., between 1957 through 1959. A squadron member's wife suggested the 'witch' to symbolize their all weather, day or night
